Head of School

When Helena Levine visits the classrooms and learning spaces of the Donna Klein Jewish Academy (DKJA), she does so with the realization that she is empowering the next generation of Jewish leaders.

As the head of this dynamic and widely acclaimed K-12 day school, Levine’s vision for Jewish education sets the tone and framework for students in all grades to take part in individualized and experiential learning while being an integral part of a close-knit Jewish community rooted in tradition and excellence.

“At DKJA, it’s about setting the bar high and providing students with choices so that they can realize their passions, purpose and dreams. Students do not have to wait for college to pursue their professional dreams. Our Signature Programs offer our high school students the opportunities to learn from experts in specific fields and to take hands-on classes that will help prepare them for the rigors of higher education,” says Levine.

With more than 17 years of experience at DKJA, Levine’s vision continues to become a reality, as evidenced by the creation of the new DKJA Eagles Center; a multi-functional space that recently celebrated its grand opening. This student-centered facility includes a state-of-the-art robotics and engineering lab, a gymnasium and weight room, a student lounge, a dance studio and several classrooms and offices.

Levine also recognizes the importance of a strong academic foundation for students attending DKJA and credits the outstanding teaching and learning coupled with the dedicated college guidance process for the tremendous number of its graduates being accepted to prestigious colleges and universities throughout the country. Acceptances include Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, Harvard, MIT, Northwestern, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, University of Chicago, Vanderbilt and Washington University.

“When our students ultimately graduate from colleges and universities around the world and I see them become active and engaged leaders in the Jewish community, I take great pride knowing that it’s because we have provided them with the right environment and necessary tools to help make it all possible.”

While Helena Levine may be considered a Wonder Woman by those who know her, she credits her board, administrators, faculty, and staff with ensuring that DKJA continues to create and deliver an educational experience that is second to none.
