Sherri A. Meyers

A Holistic Approach To Long-Term Care Planning

Sherri A. Meyers has dedicated her law career to helping clients plan for their future, preserve their assets and fulfill their wishes as they get older.

Meyers is an attorney board certified in elder law by The Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization & Education with extensive knowledge on the legal problems affecting the elderly population.

She has been practicing in Boca Raton since 1999 and has helped hundreds of clients through her firm, Florida Elder Law Concepts P.A.

“Elder law is more about your life than your death,” Meyers says. “It’s asking, ‘How do I plan for getting older? Who is going to make decisions for me when I am unable to do so?’”

Elder law is personal for Meyers. She became an elder law attorney after taking over her grandfather’s care as he advanced in age.

“Being a caregiver first allowed me to see the needs that seniors are facing in their golden years and how extremely important it is to plan,” she says. “For those who haven’t planned at all, if that person is no longer capable of managing their healthcare and/or financial affairs, they could end up in our court system with a court-appointed guardian.”

Meyers works with clients of all ages and often includes family members to craft a tailored plan to fit each client’s needs and preferences.

“If a client doesn’t have immediate family, or their family lives across the country or overseas, we discuss who will be trusted advisors and the best person to make healthcare decisions,” Meyers says.

“Another issue for Floridians to be aware of is that elder law varies from state to state,” she adds. “There are quite a few people who live part time in Florida. Very often I co-counsel with other attorneys to develop a multi-state plan.”
