You might say Claudia Langton and Laurel Smith are living a charmed life. That’s because they are owners of Charmed Life Homecare, a licensed nurse registry referring caregivers to clients in need of assistance with daily personal care and everyday activities.
The company services Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties. They count among their clients JARC Florida, which serves the needs of adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. Its programs include residential homes and apartments, community case management and employment training.
Charmed Life began working with JARC about five years ago. “We referred some caregivers and from there it went to sponsoring their events. They are a great organization and we enjoy working with them,” says Langton, who has been involved in the home healthcare industry for 20 years.
“Claudia, Laurel and their entire team go the extra mile for JARC,” says Fallon Gechter, director of Philanthropy & Community Relations at JARC Florida. “From their contractors providing services to our clients to their constant support of all our projects, we are so grateful that they are part of the JARC family.”
JARC has residents from 18 to 80 and Charmed Life provides a whole range of services, everything from light housekeeping and companionship to eating and food preparation to bathing, grooming and dressing.
“JARC focuses so much on making sure their residents are seen and known and cared for,” says Langton.
Smith and Langton have sponsored JARC’s golf tournaments, galas and just about every event they conduct. Langton has even walked the catwalk in their fashion shows a few times.
The women met when Smith hired Langton to work for her private nurse registry company in the scheduling department. Over time, they decided to start Charmed Life. While most people think it’s the elderly who need homecare assistance, Charmed Life serves a wide range of needs.
“It could be a mom coming home with a newborn, someone who just underwent surgery or residents of group homes who need an extra helping hand,” says Smith.
