Christina McKinnon Helps Clients Secure Their Future
In 2004, attorney Christina McKinnon founded McKinnon Legal, which has become one of the most sought-after firms in South Florida for family law and personal injury cases.
“I’ve always wanted to be a lawyer, ever since grade school,” she says. “I loved to compete and loved to speak, and every decision I made thereafter – whether to join the chess team or debate team – helped me naturally gravitate towards this profession.”
McKinnon specializes in family law, including divorce, equitable distribution of assets and contested custody issues and paternity matters.
“What makes me stand apart is that I develop my strategy with the end in sight. I listen a great deal to understand my client’s interests, and I work diligently to get their desired result,” McKinnon says. “I draft up a final judgment in the beginning of a case as if they had their best day in court, and I go forward with that in mind.”
In the emotional world of family law, McKinnon offers a network of support for clients.
“Divorce touches every aspect of a person’s life. Our firm is well-equipped for supporting our clients’ needs, whether it’s recommending professionals in real estate, financial planning, forensic accounting, therapists or divorce coaches,” she says.
In her 17 years in the profession, McKinnon has served on many high-profile industry boards, including being named the chair of the Judicial Nominating Commission for Broward County. In this role, she interviewed judicial prospects seeking appointment and made recommendations to the governor.
McKinnon’s community service includes starting a literacy program for homeless youth, and she was named among Women Who Make A Difference by the Junior League of Miami. She also takes one or two pro bono cases each year to provide access to the courts for the less fortunate.
Her successful firm continues to grow and expand the McKinnon Legal team.
“Having a team enables me to get more done and bring more value to our clients,” she says.
