Dr. Anna Binder Offers Patients Peace Of Mind

For some people, just getting through the day can be difficult. Financial pressures; poor health; and conflicts at home, school or work all can cause stress and lead to feelings of depression and anxiety.

It’s not always easy to admit that you need help from a mental health professional, but, once you do, many of the issues that weigh so heavily on your mind may begin to ease.

Anna Binder, M.D., has been working with adolescents and adults for more than a decade. She is a board certified psychiatrist with extensive experience treating a wide range of psychiatric and behavior disorders.

As part of the Psych4U team, a new addition to Therapies 4 Kids, Dr. Binder works with a psychiatric nurse practitioner and a licensed medical health counselor to determine the best course of treatment for her patients.

“My goal is to provide the expert psychiatric care that will allow the patient to perform at their best,” says Dr. Binder.

Many of the younger patients she sees are dealing with psychiatric and behavioral issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD and substance abuse. Social media also plays a big role in their lives, causing them to make inappropriate choices.

“It’s important to teach communication skills to teens who face peer pressure so they are made aware of the dangers inherent with social media,” Dr. Binder says.

She believes that early intervention is the key to success and that early identification leads to better outcomes, she says.

As part of that early intervention, the practice is now offering the Childhood Autism Rating Scale 2 (CARS-2). It’s designed as a clinical rating scale for the trained clinician to identify children with autism and distinguish them from those with developmental disabilities.

Dr. Binder understands that everyone’s case is different and not everyone requires medication. But, when it is needed, she works to ensure that her plans for clients are effective and necessary.

“I make every attempt to streamline or reduce medications when possible but help develop effective, safe regimens when medications are necessary,” Dr. Binder says.
