An Italian Favorite Looks Toward An Exciting Future

If your mouth waters thinking of fresh mozzarella, luscious San Marzano tomatoes and handmade pasta, look no further than Sorrisi, an authentic Italian restaurant nestled inside Seminole Casino Coconut Creek.

The restaurant opened in 2012 but is now under the care of new General Manager Jonathan Chabat, a veteran of New York’s Italian dining scene. His biggest goal is to help guests discover the restaurant’s exciting range of fine Italian cuisine, from its signature Frutti di Mare –  bursting with lobster, shrimp, king crab, calamari, mussels and clams – to its fall-off-the-bone tender Veal Osso Bucco, featuring milk-fed veal braised for seven to eight hours.

“I want to make sure we teach you every day and we provide something new to you,” Chabat says. “This way, you can always come back because you know I’m going to show you something else.”

Sorrisi and Chabat are deeply dedicated to quality, as evidenced by the locally sourced vegetables, cold-pressed extra-virgin Sicilian olive oil, semolina imported from Italy, finely curated list of Italian wines and more. Only the finest will do.

Exciting additions to Sorrisi include a pasta chef who comes in two to three times a week to make fresh pasta by hand and a pastry chef who makes dough by hand every other day for the restaurant’s new Sicilian-style pizza. Another pastry chef makes all of the restaurant’s classic desserts – updated with a modern twist – in-house.

“Everything we make today is from scratch,” Chabat says. “There’s nothing coming out of a box, except olive oil that comes in a tin can.”

The menu will also change seasonally, so expect butternut squash and pumpkin items in the fall. In coming weeks, Chabat will institute new beverage programs as well, like a variety of Italian draft beers and Negronis on tap.

But, alongside creating an atmosphere of discovery, Chabat also hopes to offer guests a personal experience.

“We want you to feel like you’re at home eating on a Sunday with family,” he says. “When you come into Sorrisi, you feel at home.”
