The Melting Pot

Bill Schmearer

An Inviting Setting For Romance, Reunions

Bill Schmearer has a big heart. For the past 29 years, he’s welcomed romantic couples, smiling friends and happy families to The Melting Pot. He’s also been a generous supporter of worthy charities.

“We give back to say thank you to the Boca community that has given so much,” says Schmearer, who owns the legendary Boca Raton restaurant. “I hope to be fortunate enough to be saying the same thing on our 50th anniversary!”

Since opening its doors in 1990, The Melting Pot has hosted nearly 300,000 special occasions, including birthdays, anniversaries and family celebrations. While the restaurant was voted as one of the area’s best family restaurants, it’s also the perfect setting for date nights, engagements and other romantic events.

“We are always booked for Valentine’s Day – often many months in advance,” he says.

Schmearer now has more than 40,000 loyal fans in his Boca Raton Club Fondue database, who receive exclusive offers from double date nights and endless fondue nights to gift certificate offers and free chocolate-covered strawberries.

Through the years, The Melting Pot menu has expanded and now includes gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options as well as 16 different proteins.

“Our guests can personalize their dining experience by selecting their own combination of entrée items or enjoy a pre-set four-course meal from our new menu,” Schmearer says.

With all his success, Schmearer is dedicated to giving back. He lives in Boca Raton with his wife and two daughters and can be found on any given weekend handing out free samples to benefit different charities. His restaurant regularly provides gift certificates and tastings for charitable galas and programs. The monthly Girls Night Out event at The Melting Pot donates 20 percent of all proceeds to charity.

Schmearer is on the committee for Cystic Fibrosis’s “Sip, Savor, Cure!” event every October (October 18 this year), sponsors the League of Ribbons at Lynn Cancer Institute and every October through December offers a “Donate $10, Receive $20” for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Boca Raton guests have helped raise more than $1 million for local and national charities.

As he says: “We have deep roots in our community and look forward to sharing our smiles with future generations!”
