Join the Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation on Oct. 26 for South Florida's premier breast cancer awareness event - the 15th Annual Go Pink Luncheon.
The event welcomes actress, producer, writer, singer and breast cancer survivor Rita Wilson to the Boca Raton Resort & Club.
In 2015, Wilson was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. Today, she stresses the importance of early detection, trusting your instincts and seeking a second opinion. Her appearance is possible thanks to the support of the Edward and Freyda Burns Enhanced Living Initiative.
Louise Morrell, M.D., medical director of the Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, and Barbara Schmidt, renowned author and founder of the nonprofit Peaceful Mind Peaceful Life, will moderate the discussion with Wilson, who will talk about her cancer diagnosis, treatment and life after recovery.
Community philanthropist Patti Carpenter will serve as the luncheon chair and will host the event along with the luncheon's Go Pink committee.
The event will feature a "pink" amenity; the AutoNation, Inc., Pink Daisy Pick Raffle; the Wall of Strength for tributes to friends and family members; and more. Major sponsors include AutoNation, Inc., and Saks Fifth Avenue. The Boca Raton Observer is the event's exclusive magazine sponsor. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. O
