Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County hosted its annual Women Build fundraiser March 14-15 in partnership with Habitat families in Lake Worth Beach.
The event supports Habitat’s affordable home-building efforts and empowers women across Palm Beach County. Participants had the opportunity to build alongside Habitat partner families, corporate sponsors and community members.
“The mission of Women Build is to engage women in the effort to provide safe and decent homes for families in need of affordable housing,” said Jennifer Thomason, CEO and president of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County. “By recruiting, empowering and uplifting women, we can transform lives in our communities.”
The land for the 2024 Women Build home was donated to Habitat by the Lake Worth Beach CRA. Together, the Lake Worth CRA and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County have built and/or financed over 45 affordable homes in the city. “Working with Habitat for Humanity for the past 14 years has been a wonderful experience, both for us and for the community. We truly appreciate the partnership we have with Habitat and our shared goals in providing efficient, new, affordable homes for every income level,” said Joan Oliva, executive director of Lake Worth Beach CRA.
According to a press release, since its inception in 1986, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County has built 426 new homes, revitalized 749 existing ones and partnered with over 1,170 families and individuals in need of safe, decent and affordable housing in Palm Beach County.
