Habilitation Center for the Handicapped, Inc. (HabCenter) was recently awarded a $100,000 grant from Impact 100 Palm Beach County at the organization’s annual awards event. This transformational grant will provide HabCenter clients and the community with a new Hydroponics and Gardening Program.
Located in Boca Raton, HabCenter is a full-time day program that delivers a wide range of comprehensive, individually tailored programs and services to enable adults with special needs to maximize their potential, live fulfilling and joyful lives and foster the opportunity to become productive, contributing members of the community.
With mental and behavioral health counseling, programs in education, arts and recreation, high-level vocational training and development and a supported employment program, HabCenter clients thrive.
HabCenter was awarded the grant in the Health and Wellness category. The new Hydroponics and Gardening Program will educate clients on how to grow their own nutritious food and expose them to fresh, healthy produce.
“The Impact 100 grant will effectively provide us with the infrastructure to offer this new Hydroponics and Gardening program long-term,” says Sherry A. Henry, director of development. “We are so thankful for their support and seeing the value of our mission.”
Impact 100 Palm Beach County is a women’s charitable organization funding local nonprofit initiatives in southern Palm Beach County.
