On Dec. 14 at The Polo Club of Boca Raton, JAFCO will host the 2019 Jacob’s Ladder Award Gala, dedicated to raising funds for abused and neglected children and those with developmental disabilities in South Florida.
Chaired by Helene and Stephen Weicholz and Nanci and Stephen Beyer, this exclusive, black-tie event will feature a cocktail reception, fine dining, silent and live auctions, dancing to a nine-piece band and a heartwarming presentation about JAFCO’s lifesaving work.
The evening will be highlighted by JAFCO’s presentation of the prestigious Jacob’s Ladder Award for Child Advocacy to two couples who have been dedicated to protecting abused and neglected children in our community. The recipients are Amy and Barry Sylvetsky and Sen. Kevin and Rabbi Amy Rader.
The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented posthumously to Alfred J. Katzin, who was committed to the mission of JAFCO. He joined the board in 2007 and then became a capital donor to the Children’s Ability Center, of which he was named chairman of the board last year.
“This incredible event is a perfect way to end the year in thanking the amazing members of our South Florida community while still raising the crucial funds that support JAFCO’s mission,” says Helene.
Adds Nanci: “It is a privilege to be a part of this wonderful organization, and we are so grateful to everyone who continues to support JAFCO.”
The nonprofit’s mission is to care for abused and neglected children and those with disabilities in the Jewish community.
All of the evening’s proceeds will directly touch the lives of the children it serves.
