Florida Atlantic University’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters will host the Culture, Arts and Society Today (CAST) Party March 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Royal Palm Yacht Club in Boca Raton.
All proceeds from the Mardi Gras-themed event will benefit students in the college, which houses 18 academic programs. These include Arts offerings of theatre, dance, music and visual arts; humanities degrees; social science degrees; Communication and Architecture. The college also houses the Center for Peace, Justice and Human Rights; the Center for the Future Mind; Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies; and Jewish Studies.
“Through the generosity of donors, we are able to support students who may otherwise not be able to attend college,” says Marta Batmasian, chair of the Advisory Board for the College, and Ruby Sponsor for the CAST Party. “By supporting this event, our donors are changing people’s lives.”
Dinner, drinks and entertainment will be featured. The entertainment will include the FAU Dance Band performing Mardi Gras tunes from around the world and musical theatre showtunes performed by recent alumni.
“The faculty in FAU’s School of the Arts are world-renowned for their performances and visual arts creations,” says Margo Green, chair of the CAST Party Committee. “We are very lucky to have these incredibly talented students and faculty members who provide our community with outstanding exhibitions, concerts, and theatre and dance performances.”
