In Jacob’s Shoes event committee
In Jacob’s Shoes 13th Annual Dinner & Auction, “Every Sole Counts,” will take place Oct. 26 at 5:30 p.m. at Boca West Country Club. This yearly fundraiser is critical to the charity’s continued mission to help children living in poverty in South Florida. The event will include cocktails, dinner, entertainment, a variety of raffles as well as live and silent auction items.
Proceeds will benefit In Jacob’s Shoes, a nonprofit charity formed in loving memory of Jacob S. Zweig and dedicated to providing shoes and backpacks with school supplies to local children in need. The charity serves the children of South Florida who may be homeless, living in shelters, in foster care or have even aged out of the foster care system. It also helps children with special needs and victims of fires, floods and hurricanes. Some of these children might be wearing shoes that are too small, have holes or don’t have soles, while others might have no shoes at all.
Since its inception, In Jacob’s Shoes has provided more than 226,000 pairs of shoes, 56,000 pairs of socks and 11,600 backpacks with school supplies, hoping to break the cycle of poverty by providing children with the essential tools to go to school prepared, play sports and participate in activities.
Honored at the event this year are Lifetime Achievement Award recipients Peter Weinstein & Dr. Barbara Weinstein, Community Leadership Award recipient Coral Springs Commissioner Joy Carter and Excellence in Service Award recipient Randi Pollack. In Jacob’s Shoes’ Hope Heroes will also be acknowledged for their financial support.
