JAFCO is hosting its 9th annual In My Shoes Luncheon on Oct. 17 at Boca West Country Club in Boca Raton to help the community understand what it’s like to raise a child with developmental disabilities.
The event is chaired by Kim Fetterman and Lori Solodkin.
“It is such an incredible privilege to co-chair this luncheon year after year,” says Fetterman. “This event is so critical in generating awareness of what it’s like to raise a child with developmental disabilities, and we encourage everyone to come join us in recognizing these devoted families.”
The event will feature a boutique, followed by the luncheon and program, which will be emceed by Beth Rosenstein, vice president and general manager of Bloomingdale’s Boca Raton, and Jason Solodkin, a financial planner with FDR Financial.
One of the highlights of the event is the Ribbon of Hope Ceremony, during which the entire room is united in support of parents who have the challenging task of raising a child with a developmental disability.
With an unmet need in South Florida for family enrichment, support and respite, the Ability Center opened in 2014. It services hundreds of children and families each month, offering a beautiful, clean and fun place where children can be safe and feel like they belong. Services include assessment; enhanced case management and referral; social and life skills training; after-school enrichment programming; support groups for parents, siblings and grandparents; a summer camp; and family fun days.
The Boca Raton Observer is the event’s exclusive magazine sponsor. O
