Overcoming stress is a primary objective of students in the Spanish River Community High School DECA program, which is working on an ongoing project, "From Stress to Success."
"The main purpose is to educate high school students about the negative effects of stress and teach them healthy methods of managing it in order to best prepare them for their future," says student Michelle Huang.
The group has organized a series of events and activities involving students and community members, including an after-school yoga event taught by yoga- certified students, an awareness project for students to share how they relieve stress, a speaker event with a nutrition professor to discuss how nutrition impacts stress and a fundraiser that raised $1,000 for teen programs at the Boca Raton Faulk Center for Counseling.
Plus, DECA teamed with computer science students and Girls Who Code to create an app to help students relieve stress and manage their time, and the group plans to organize more educational events for students and community members.
