The paint barely has time to dry on the wall before another home design trend emerges.
But that’s what makes Maison & Objet so much fun. The go-to confab, held twice a year in Paris, showcases the latest and greatest in decoration, design, furniture, accessories, textiles, fragrances, tableware and more – along with a nod to notable designers and a lecture series from international experts.
“Maison & Objet provides a source of exclusive and forward-thinking information to help understand and foresee market trends,” notes its website.
The first show of 2019, held in late January, predicted where design may be headed in coming years. Highlights included Furmat’s leather-like upholstery fabric made from apples; Dedar’s outdoor fabrics in surprising weaves and bouclés; and British Colour Standard’s innovative, colorful and eco-friendly products. Attendees also enjoyed a lecture from Designer of the Year Sebastian Herkner, whose unique approach fuses tradition with creativity and new technology with craftsmanship.
Next up: The fall version takes place Sept. 6-10.
