If you’re into running, or even if you are not, you might want to check out the 3rd Annual Boca Raton Eco Trail Trekker. It’s being held Jan. 23 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Boca Raton. There is something for everyone and it’s all for a good cause.
This year, the organizers’ recommended charities are Boca Save Our Beaches, Eat Better Live Better, Sweet Dream Makers and Unicorn Children’s Foundation. Fifty percent of the entry fees are donated back to participants’ chosen charity.
This global event is the brainchild of Paul Collins, a former international sport and corporate wear business owner who splits his time between England and Boca Raton. He first launched the event with fellow U.K. entrepreneur Robert Kirby in 2010 before bringing it to Boca Raton in 2016.
For those of you who don’t mind breaking more than just a sweat, there’s the 5k and 10k challenges where teams of four start together, run together along the El Rio Trail and hopefully finish together. If you can’t find a teammate, that’s okay, individuals also can enter. Once these guys and gals cross the finish line, participants in the 2k family fun walk get started.
All participants will be entered into a drawing where first prize is a wellness cruise for two hosted by Health Coach Tony Twymon. The expo features healthy food, international guest speakers, a cannabis educational forum, yoga and, if you are still up for it after your run, fitness activities.
