If you’re looking for the perfect summer spirit, we have a recommendation with a lot of things going for it: Gray Whale Gin.
Now available in Florida for the first time, the California-made liquor is not only complex and delicious but comes in a bright blue bottle that you’ll want to display on your bar cart long after it’s empty.
Plus, the story behind the spirit is unique: “Gray Whale Gin was founded in 2018 by husband and wife team Marsh and Jan Mohktari while they were on a family camping trip in Big Sur. The gin is inspired by the migratory path of the Pacific Gray Whale. The gin’s botanicals are all organically farmed or hand harvested along the gray whale’s 12,000-mile journey from Baja California to Mendocino,” according to a press release.
Those botanicals include juniper from Big Sur, kombu from the Mendocino Coast, almonds from the Capay Valley, limes from Baja California, fir tree from Sonoma and mint from Santa Cruz.
“With every sip, the botanicals take the drinker along the California coastline,” according to a press release.
We can already feel the salty wind in our hair.
