The world can be a noisy place. With so much going on at once — and so many platforms to project from — it’s important to always be heard. As women, even more so. And while we have progressed by leaps and bounds as a society, we still have a long way to go when embracing and encouraging women toward their path to success.
I have never shied away from a challenge, and as an established business owner and mother of two, I’ve had my fair share. In these times, I often remember one of my favorite quotes from businesswoman/philanthropist Melinda French Gates, “A woman with a voice is by definition a strong woman.” It serves as a proud reminder of the unapologetic celebration of who you are, the importance of being heard, loud and clear and the confidence to embrace ourselves.
This issue, our Women’s Issue, overflows with strong women. For starters, we have the extraordinary Marin Hinkle gracing our cover. Our story “A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose” (page 66) explores her memorable performances on the hit show “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” the influential female mentors that shaped her and the exciting projects ahead.
We also chat with the legendary (and might I add, incredibly beautiful) Jaclyn Smith. The former “Charlie’s Angels” star shares highlights of her legendary career as well as her later (and equally successful) calling in the world of business and design in “Everlasting Angel” (page 78). As someone who grew up idolizing her as Kelly on the show, I am beyond thrilled to share her inspiring story.
Because we just can’t get enough when it comes to inspiring women, we bring you “Link In The Chain,” (page 90) where we have the pleasure of speaking with the Israeli actor/activist/producer Noa Tishby about the three most important things: family, career and homeland. If you don’t know about this powerhouse, you’re in for a treat!
Studies show that women make better leaders than men, yet it is still a challenge for them to get ahead in the workforce. Take a deep dive with us on “Beyond The Glass Ceiling” (page 72) where we explore why.
Need a boost? Then check out our story, “Paving The Way” (page 84) and meet five stellar women in South Florida blazing trails in male-dominated industries!
I’m so grateful to the women I am fortunate to surround myself with each day. Whether family, friends, mentors or colleagues, know that you inspire and strengthen me, allowing for my voice to resonate loud and clear every day.
Best,
Linda L. Behmoiras
