ArtServe Hosts Trans Town Hall
Together with the Transinclusive Group, a South Florida-based transgender-Led LGBTQ+ advocacy group, ArtServe will host a “Trans Town Hall” on Thursday, June 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. entitled “Dismantling Systems of Oppression - Collective Liberation Through Disruptive Advocacy.”
As part of Pride Month, the panel discussion event taking place at the ArtServe headquarters is open to the public and free to attend. ArtServe is located at 1350 East Sunrise Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.
Moderated by Nik Harris, Director of Strategic Outreach and Engagement for the Human Rights Campaign, the discussion will focus on:
• Building coalition and meaningfully engaging the community on transgender issues
• Disrupting and rethinking systems and structures within the nonprofit complex to find collaborative solutions for bringing about real, meaningful and lasting change for the LGBTQ+ and transgender communities
• Ensuring that core values of diversity, equity and inclusion are implemented within systems as more than just buzzwords
• Addressing inequities in funding structures that hinder the growth and efficacy of grassroots organizations
The “Trans Town Hall” event is supported by Our Fund and AIDS Healthcare Foundation in collaboration with community partners, including Arianna’s Center, TransSOCIAL, The McKenzie Project, Black LGBTQ+ Liberation, ACLU Florida, Ujima Men's Collective, LGBTQ Freedom Fund, Reflect Collective, PRISM, The Smile Trust, HRC South Florida, The Hollywood LGBTQ+ Council, World AIDS Museum, Keshet, Safe Schools South Florida, SAVE, The Pride Center and SunServe.
