Heart of a Woman Luncheon Logo

AVDA’s Heart of a Woman Luncheon celebrates the strength, courage and determination of women, particularly survivors of domestic violence. This lovely event raises funds to support AVDA’s critical and life-saving programs, including our emergency shelter and transitional housing at Casa Vegso, our 24- hour crisis hotline, outreach and legal advocacy as well as our training and violence prevention education programs.

We are thrilled to announce that Tarana Burke, founder of the ‘me too’ movement will share her story behind the genesis of the viral 2017 TIME Person of the Year –winning ‘me too’ movement at AVDA’s 12th Annual Heart of a Woman Luncheon on February 28, 2019 at the Royal Palm Yacht Club. A sexual assault survivor herself, she provides words of empowerment that lift up marginalized voices, enables survivors across all races, genders, or classes to know that they are not alone, and creates a place of comfort and healing to those who have experienced trauma.
