Meet Christiana Lilly, author of “100 Things to Do in Fort Lauderdale Before You Die” on November 7 at History Fort Lauderdale.

History Fort Lauderdale, celebrating 60 years of stewardship of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, will present a book signing with Christiana Lilly, author of “100 Things to Do in Fort Lauderdale Before You Die,” on Monday, November 7, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Lilly’s appearance is part of History Fort Lauderdale’s “Florida Scribes & Stories,” a free meet the author monthly series that offers literary and history enthusiasts a chance to speak with local authors, purchase their latest releases and have them signed at the New River Inn Museum of History.

From a boggy riverfront outpost to spring break mecca and a world-class city in South Florida, Fort Lauderdale has taken on many identities in its history. But something that has never changed is its eclectic nature, that has lured families, outdoor enthusiasts, and well-heeled travelers year after year. “100 Things to Do in Fort Lauderdale Before You Die” offers an insider’s look at all the best ways to make the most of your next vacation.

As a seasoned journalist who has lived in the Fort Lauderdale area for more than a decade, including being a regular contributor or Visit Lauderdale (Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau), Lilly leads readers through the city’s historic landmarks, dining gems, quirky shops, and culture scene that makes the city so special – from a Dom Pérignon breakfast at The Floridian to kayaking through the mangroves to taking in contemporary works at NSU Art Museum. Christiana Lilly is an award-winning journalist whose work ranges from lifestyle and community reporting to hard-hitting investigative pieces. Permanent exhibits include “From Dugouts to Dream Yachts,” a visual narrative weaving the story of the ever-changing use of Fort Lauderdale’s waterways by following the strokes of the first people to today’s sightseers, “The Bryans of Fort Lauderdale” which allows visitors to experience the story of the City of Fort Lauderdale as told through the pioneer family that shaped its development from an agricultural outpost in 1896 to a bustling city in the 1920s to its current status as a leading Metropolis, “Juliette Lange: A Portrait of a Mezzo Soprano,” a fashion and lifestyle glimpse of the socially prominent Fort Lauderdale resident with a lauded career as a star vocalist of musical comedy, plus “Archaeology of the New River” and a multitude of stories and photos sharing the history of other founding families of Fort Lauderdale. The nonprofit museum also hosts an artists’ collective collaborative space.
