Captured are oysters, cocktails, and wine.
National Oyster Day is August 5, so get your slurp on at City Oyster in Delray Beach. The celebrated half-shell haven and executive chef Jordan Stilley will offer $1 off oysters during Happy Hour, including 2-for-1 cocktails, beer, and select wine pours from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the bar only.
During dinner, guests who order a dozen oysters on the half shell (market price) will enjoy a complimentary glass of chilled champagne. Menu highlights also include Oysters Rockefeller ($19), Oysters Casino ($19), or the Grand Plateau ($82), a decadent showstopper loaded with oysters, king crab, littlenecks, shrimp, and jumbo crab meat. Cheers your catch with a bevy of creative drink pairings like a sake flight, rosé by the glass, or cocktails on tap.
Rotating oyster varieties include:
Bluepoint
Named after a Long Island town, they are mild with subtle saltiness and pair well with traditional condiments like cocktail sauce.
Beau Soleil
These meaty bivalves are prided for their delicate flavor profile and hail from New Brunswick, Canada, eh!
Gigamoto
Tuck into one and enjoy sweet-and-sour brine followed by a mineral finish.
Irish Point
Identifiable by their thin, green shells, this pint-sized variant is big on buttery flavor.
Kumamoto
Considered the perfect oyster by many, the meat has a mild brininess, sweet flavor, and honeydew finish.
Kusshi
Japanese for “precious,” these guys are known for their clean, delicate flavor.
Malpeque PEI’s most famous oyster, these delicate beauties taste great with a cold beer.
Need another reason to feel hoppy? It’s also International Beer Day, which means waxing poetic over a beer paddle flight (or two). Or snag a seat at the bar during Happy Hour and enjoy beer specials from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
