Training Description: Despite the fact that ASD can be reliably diagnosed  in children as young as 2 years old, the average age  of first time diagnosis fo ASD remains around the age of 4. This finding is especially concerning when considering the fact that the strongest predictor of optimal outcome in children with ASD is early intervention. Early intensive intervention between the ages of 3 and 5 capitalizes upon a critical window of rapid brain development. Without an accurate diagnosis, toddlers with ASD do not receive appropriate treatment and miss the opportunity to forever alter the their developmental trajectory.
