The Armory's Visiting Master Artist Workshops give aspiring artists the chance to study with the best of today’s master artists in the areas of ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, painting and drawing.

Dates: January 24-27, 2023, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (1 hour break)

Tuition: $550

Class Description: This workshop will cover how to move from figure drawing to figure painting using a similar approach for both. In addition to working with a live model, short lessons will outline how to think about picture-making from a gesture to the finish. Simple methods make the process easier. The first two days will focus on drawing. The next two will focus on painting. However, students are welcome to draw or paint for the entire duration since the thought process will be the same. Instruction will be offered for both at any level. Students will be encouraged to work on compositions that work well from their angle. This could be a head and shoulders portrait or any other type of composition.
