Youth suicide has increased 50% over the past 10 years. Suicide is now the second leading cause of death among teens. SafeTalk’s mission is to help participants gain the knowledge and power to address mental health challenges in our community.
The three-hour alertness training program is designed to prepare each participant to become a suicide alert helper. Individuals who deal with suicidal thoughts don’t usually want to die, and most actually give hints to people in their lives that they are formulating these thoughts. However, many individuals miss these invitations to help. SafeTalk helpers are trained to recognize these invitations and take action.
