When a restaurant is named after the corner on which it stands, you know a dedication to community is a top priority.
And that couldn’t be more abundantly clear at Tigertail + Mary, a new bohemian eatery from James Beard Award-winning chef-restaurateur Michael Schwartz.
“Coconut Grove is full of good energy and honesty,” he explains about the venue’s location in a press release. “Food and the neighborhood dining experience should be this way, too. Add an ample bar and the best people in the business… and it’s an environment designed with our guests in mind – a place people can feel comfortable spending time in.”

The restaurant, which opened on the corner of Mary Street and Tigertail Avenue a few months ago, features thoughtfully sourced proteins, dishes emphasizing simplicity and a bar program by BarLab (the mixologists behind The Broken Shaker and The Anderson).
Appetizer and entrée highlights include Fideos (Mexican noodles), with chorizo, littleneck clams, sea beans and saffron aioli; Mashed Fava Pizza, with ramps, snap peas, asparagus and fontina cheese; and Slow-Roasted Curried Lamb Shoulder, with pickles, brown basmati rice and paratha (Indian flatbread).

Desserts include twists on traditional favorites, such as vegan Pavlova, with Key lime curd and mango-pineapple-coconut sorbet, and Rhubarb Crisp, with strawberry and quinoa honey oat gelato.
The 120-seat restaurant features an open kitchen with a hearth, a bar, a patio, and raised-bed gardens and mango trees on its front lawn. There’s also a walk-up café that sells breakfast fare from the bakery.
Tigertail + Mary is located at 3321 Mary St., Coconut Grove. For more information, call 305-722-5688 or visit tigertailandmary.com.
