The musical comedy hit “Mrs. Doubtfire,” which is currently playing to sold-out houses in London, has announced its North American tour with a stop in Fort Lauderdale’s Broward Center for the Performing Arts as part of the Bank of America Broadway in Fort Lauderdale 2023/2024 season, April 9-21.
The critically acclaimed production, with a stellar four-star review, has been hailed as “A complete joy” by The Daily Telegraph and “a feel-good, family-friendly musical comedy that delivers” by The Hollywood Reporter.
It features Tony Award-nominated and Broadway-leading Rob McClure as Daniel Hillard/Euphegenia Doubtfire. “Out-of-work actor Daniel Hillard will do anything for his kids. After losing custody in a messy divorce, he creates the kindly alter ego of Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire in a desperate attempt to stay in their lives,” states a press release. “As his new character takes on a life of its own, Mrs. Doubtfire teaches Daniel more than he bargained for about how to be a father.”
Joining McClure is renowned actress and real-life wife Maggie Lakis as Miranda Hillard. The cast also includes Giselle Gutierrez, Aaron Kaburick, Nik Alexander, Leo Roberts, Romelda Teron Benjamin, Cody Braverman and Axel Bernard Rimmele under the direction of four-time Tony Award-winner Jerry Zaks.
“A hysterical and heartfelt story about holding onto your loved ones against all odds, Mrs. Doubtfire is the musical comedy we need right now — one that proves we’re better together,” says the press release.
