Leon Bridges knows a good thing when he sees it. So it’s no wonder he dubbed his second album, released last year, “Good Thing.”
Bridges, who burst onto the scene in 2015 with the hit album “Coming Home,” has come a long way since his days as a dishwasher. He’s even been nominated for two Grammys. Check out his soulful sound at The Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater on April 19 at 8:30 p.m.
“If you could describe Leon Bridges in four words it would be: suit-wearing soul singer. From restaurant dishwasher to being signed by Columbia Records, Leon Bridges hasn’t had anyreason to look back at the filthy plates in the sink,” notes the venue’s website. “Bridges has been around the world and back again with his suave voice accompanied with his old school swagger. Come check out a modern rendition of a 1960s soul, rhythm and blues sound.”

He told Esquire: “I don’t even like thinking about whether or not I see myself performing until I’m 40 years old. I don’t like the pressure. I want everything to go as organically as possible.”
But that doesn’t mean he’s into the status quo, as he told People: “I want to continue to push the envelope and create art that’s different. I think the root of all my music is going to be soul and taking inspiration from blues and music from the past. I’m constantly trying to figure out what the next step is.” O
