Tim Forman was born and raised in South Florida so it’s no surprise that when he started painting (at age 10!) he portrayed the natural world that surrounded him.
Now, the Fort Lauderdale resident’s exhibit, “The Art of Tim Forman: Florida Everglades,” is being presented by History Fort Lauderdale through Sept. 26.
The “colorful impressionist environmentally inspired” work will be on display at the New River Inn in Fort Lauderdale. The Everglades, which cover 1.5 million acres of wetland, is the largest remaining subtropical wilderness in the United States and is home to endangered, rare and exotic wildlife — providing plenty of fodder for Forman’s inspiration.
Forman’s work is comprised of field sketches, plein air paintings, and photographs that compose his pieces which he paints in layers with a knife and brush.
“Tim enjoys oil painting with both brush and knife. He is mostly self-taught, learning by practice and observation. He likes to paint the beautiful clouds, seascapes and the natural landscape found throughout Florida,” notes his website. “Through his artwork, Tim seeks to lift the spirits and inspire awe above our day-to-day lives.”
