Looking for something special to do on Valentine’s Day?
Head for the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach for one of Grammy-nominated pianist Monty Alexander’s concerts (6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.).
Alexander, who expresses himself with jazz, blues, gospel, bebop, reggae and more on stages including Montreux Jazz Festival, where he’s perfomed 23 times, will be tickling the ivories on this special day.
“Nearly sixty years after he moved to the United States from Kingston, Jamaica, his hometown, Grammy nominated pianist Monty Alexander is an American classic, touring the world relentlessly with various projects, delighting a global audience drawn to his vibrant personality and soulful message,” notes his website.
“His spirited conception is one informed by the timeless verities: endless melody-making, effervescent grooves, sophisticated voicings, a romantic spirit, and a consistent predisposition, as Alexander accurately states, ‘to build up the heat and kick up a storm.’”
His latest album, “Love Notes,” was released in August 2022 and for the first time, features him singing. “It couples his passion for music with his extraordinary piano playing and the intimacy of his wonderful vocals,” notes the Kravis website. “Join us on Valentine’s Day for an intimate and romantic evening with Monty Alexander.”
