
“Expect the unexpected.” That’s the motto when it comes to Madonna, one of the most famous – and controversial – singers of all time.
Fans who attend her Madame X Tour are in for a real treat: The Material Girl is at her finest in her latest incarnation, which stops at The Fillmore in Miami Beach for seven shows between Dec. 14 & 22. And it sounds like Madonna’s new music will be right at home in Miami – the city she used to call home.
“Influenced creatively by living in Lisbon, Portugal, over the past several years, Madame X is a collection of 15 new songs that celebrate Madonna’s career-long affair with Latin music and culture as well as other global influences,” notes The Fillmore’s website.
Rolling Stone adds: “As Madame X proves, Madonna will never be the kind of superstar who repeats her successes, sticks to her strengths or plays it safe. Instead, she’s getting weirder with age. Thank all the angels and saints for that.”
The 61-year-old has sold more than 300 million records worldwide. Her musical talent, however, is often eclipsed by her outspokenness and wild outfits. (Who can forget her iconic cone-shaped bra?)
But don’t expect her to tone it down – or apologize.
As she told The New York Times: “When I’m hungry, I eat. When I’m thirsty, I drink. When I feel like saying something, I say it.”
She echoed that sentiment during a recent concert at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, telling the audience: “Freedom is the theme of this show. And the theme of my life, for that matter.” O
