A Step Ahead Foundation provides young women with resources to ensure they get a step ahead in life. The mission is two fold, pregnancy prevention and educational attainment. Graduate First is the motto. Graduating before having a baby or more babies is life changing for the young woman, her family and her entire community.
In the ten years since retired Juvenile Court Judge Claudia Haltom founded A Step Ahead (ASAF), they have served over 6400 young women with long acting, reversible contraception (LARC) and they have provided $1 million in college scholarships with over 264 awarded.
Claudia started A Step Ahead to help young women be able to plan their lives, complete their education and have equal access to the most effective, but also most expensive, birth control. She is meeting with people in Boca Raton who are interested in the mission and in helping young women get an education. Her email is chaltom@astepaheadfoundation.org. And, in Boca her office is at Starbucks!
Donations for scholarships can be paid directly to the college she is attending through their website. Money is not paid directly to the young woman. 100% of the donation for a scholarship is paid out with no overhead taken out of the donation. It is tax deductible as A Step AheadFoundation is a 501c3.
Contributions can be paid online through our website at www.astepaheadfoundation.org or can be mailed to: A Step Ahead Foundation, P.O. Box 41601 Memphis, TN 38174.
