Mission: The Boca Raton Museum of Art is dedicated to excellence in all its endeavors, through its collections, exhibitions, and educational opportunities. The Museum values cultural, artistic, and intellectual diversity and accommodates a wide range of experiences and learning styles. It welcomes new and broader constituencies, encouraging a heightened public understanding and appreciation of the visual world.
Founded by artists in 1950, the Boca Raton Museum of Art recognizes that knowledge is gained both by thinking and by making. This idea is expressed through the creative vitality of our three components:
- The Museum in Mizner Park where 100,000+ visitors experience and learn about the beauty and diversity of the visual world through special exhibitions, collections, installations, and an array of programs and lectures.
- The Art School where 5,000+ children and adults discover and further their creativity and talent through high caliber art instruction with 100+ weekly classes and workshops in various media, including painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, and Ikebana.
- The Artists Guild Gallery where 300+ local artists working in a wide variety of media gather to exchange ideas and exhibit and sell their work.
Each year, on the Museum’s 1st floor, 10 or more major exhibitions demonstrate a range of culture, period, and media. The 2nd floor is dedicated to rotating exhibitions of our collections alongside works on loan from private collections.
Through our Art Matters initiatives, over 250 public programs engage and educate broad constituencies, including school children, families, artists, and adult learners. The Museum nurtures a vibrant, inclusive local artist community -- through our Art School, Artists Guild, and Art Festival we support the artistic and professional growth of artists over the entire arc of their creative development.
