Anyone who is a parent or guardian of individuals with developmental delays is faced with the same issue: What to do when their child becomes an adult? In 1968 a group of mothers arrived at this very predicament. Their loved ones had outgrown the public school system and services for adults with developmental delays were limited. None of these mothers could stand the thought of these remarkable individuals fading into the background of society and institutionalizing them was not an option. They knew that their loved ones deserved a fun and safe place that harbored healthy growth and development and that also allowed them to contribute to the community. It was at this moment that Twin Palms Center for the Disabled was born.
Located in beautiful Boca Raton, Florida, our facility has undergone major renovations since our opening. To better cater to the needs of our clients, our facility is now fully equipped with a computer center, air hockey table, arts and crafts station, hermit crab farm, a fully functioning kitchen and much more!
Twin Palms is open year-round, five days a week, with the exception of observed holidays. Upon arrival, clients are free to socialize with one another, and utilize the various amenities our facility has to offer. Onsite activities include: arts and crafts, gardening, dancing, acting, computer work, video games, and much more. Clients can also look forward to field trips to the library, local parks, the zoo, bowling allies, local theaters and museums, and swimming facilities, just to name a few.
