Anthony Giuffrida, M.D.
Interventional Spine and Pain Management
We’ve all seen those streaming shows on how the opioid epidemic was brought on by pharmaceutical companies looking to make a profit. That’s exactly why Anthony Giuffrida, M.D., an interventional spine and sports doctor with Paley Orthopedic & Spine Institute doesn’t prescribe those medications which he believes only mask pain without addressing the underlying issue.
A board-certified fellowship-trained expert in interventional spine and pain management,
Dr. Giuffrida focuses on alleviating a patient’s pain with noninvasive and technologically advanced methods. “Less is more,” he says. He works at the center’s four South Florida offices, including the newest one in Boca Raton. “The least invasive way to treat and alleviate pain is best for you and your body.”
He aims for lasting, holistic wellness, avoiding surgery and addictive medications. His treatment techniques include fluoroscopic-guided injections, spinal cord stimulators, radiofrequency ablation and minimally invasive surgeries. “We’re the step before you need full-on surgery,” he says. His team works very closely with the surgeons at Paley to ensure the patient is getting the most optimal procedure. “We’re like the primary care doctors of surgeons. Having that close interaction between us and surgeons is what makes our practice work well and gives us the best patient outcomes.”
Dr. Giuffrida is groundbreaking in his solutions for patients suffering from conditions such as back and neck pain as well as problems affecting muscles, tendons, joints and nerves. “We see everyone from the weekend warrior to the professional athlete,” he says. “We treat everything but the teeth and toes, specializing in the spine.”
Dr. Giuffrida earned his medical degree at State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse and completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Albany Medical Center in New York.
Dr. Giuffrida lectures all over the world. He chairs committees for American Society of Pain & Neuroscience and North American Neuromodulation Society.
