Jarrod Friedman, M.D., Your First Choice For Pain Relief
Patients who have been treated by pain specialists but who have not obtained the relief they had hoped to often turn to Jarrod Friedman, M.D., of CoreSmart Pain Health Institute in Boca Raton.
“I have been told by referring physicians that I am the cleanup man,” says Dr. Friedman.
Many of the patients he sees have already been to several doctors and have undergone numerous unsuccessful and often invasive procedures, yet they continue to suffer.
“So many people look for the quick fix,” says Dr. Friedman, who is board certified in both physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as pain management. “It’s the doctor who can get them in for the fastest injection or surgery, and, a lot of times, it makes things worse because they didn’t do their due diligence.”
Dr. Friedman, who brings nearly 17 years of experience to pain management, sees his role as an educator. He wants patients to understand that seeing an expert in intervention who takes a conservative approach should be their first choice and not their last resort.
“In this age of so many options, having a physician who understands all options – both conservative and interventional – should be your first choice,” he says.
Dr. Friedman treats acute and chronic back pain; acute strains and sprains; sports injuries; and chronic post-operative pain issues, such as chronic pain after a total hip or knee replacement.
He does not take a cookie-cutter approach. Instead, patients can expect an individualized treatment plan designed to obtain optimal results.
He developed, launched and directed pain management programs for the world-renowned Johns Hopkins University Hospital System, where he also taught. He offers numerous treatments, including platelet rich plasma (PRP), regenerative therapies, neurostimulation and steroid injections. However, he is quick to point out that getting the right diagnosis is first and foremost.
“A fellowship-trained pain management physician understands how to properly diagnose someone – not just inject them or give them a pill,” says Dr. Friedman. “If you don’t have the right diagnosis, you will have procedures that don’t work.”
