Arts and Cultural Nonprofit
For the past 46 years, the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County has played a crucial role in helping support professional artists and cultural organizations through efforts such as grants and fellowships, professional development, community engagement, advocacy and cultural tourism.
Dave Lawrence, president and CEO, has dedicated his career to nonprofit administration. Under his leadership, the organization has sharpened its focus on serving the sector.
Lawrence is proud to announce that the Council’s YES! campaign will distribute a milestone $10.6 million to arts organizations and creative professionals in Palm Beach County over the next year —more than it ever has in a single year in its history.
“Making sure that we have a vibrant and healthy arts and cultural sector is absolutely critical to the quality of life of our cities and communities,” Lawrence says. “We’re giving our creative professionals the tools and resources they need to deliver quality programming for our residents and visitors and creating a pipeline for artists and organizations to thrive and make a living here in Palm Beach County.”
The nonprofit Cultural Council relies on public and private philanthropy to continue its work. The YES! campaign is made possible by a combination of funding initiatives supported by public sources such as the Palm Beach County Tourist Development
Council, as well as private foundations and generous individuals. It will support all disciplines of art — from visual art, theater and dance, to music, spoken word and more.
Lawrence calls the YES! Campaign a win-win for all stakeholders. Robust arts programming helps draw tourists to an area and enhances the quality of life for residents, which then supports these creative industries as attendees and customers.
“Bringing new resources to the arts and cultural sector will have a ripple effect across the county and create a lasting impact,” Lawrence says. “We want to lift up artists at all levels and highlight and showcase the depth and breadth of talent that’s found here.”
