Helena Levine
Head of School
For more than two decades, Helena Levine has helped shape the trajectory of Donna Klein Jewish Academy (DKJA). Her journey includes four years as High School Principal and now 11 years as Head of School, giving her a depth of institutional knowledge and continuity that few leaders possess.
As High School Principal, Levine led the division through a period of unprecedented academic growth. Academic rigor intensified, innovative programs expanded and college acceptances reached new heights, with graduates earning admission to increasingly competitive universities nationwide. The culture she fostered laid the foundation for the school’s continued ascent.
Appointed Head of School in January 2015, Levine has guided DKJA through sustained growth and strategic clarity. Enrollment now stands at its highest point in the school’s 46-year history.
Campus development continues to evolve. Under her leadership, five unique signature learning programs have been developed and grown, generating unprecedented choice and opportunity within the high school. Academic programs have expanded across divisions. And the school’s mission feels more vital than ever in a rapidly changing and complex world.
Levine’s leadership is both transformational and strategic. She believes strong schools are built through distributive leadership, empowering talented administrators, investing in faculty growth and fostering authentic partnerships with the Board. Levine states that “Vision is shared, responsibility is collective and excellence is systemic.”
She is currently leading DKJA through a comprehensive multi-year strategic plan focused on strengthening academic excellence, deepening Jewish identity, enhancing student wellness and ensuring long-term sustainability. Under her guidance, planning is mission-centered and forward-looking.
Her leadership extends beyond the school campus. Levine serves on multiple boards and was appointed to the Florida Council of Independent Schools Board of Directors, contributing to statewide conversations on governance and best practices in independent school education.
Known for her relationship-driven leadership style, Levine leads with empathy and kindness while maintaining clear expectations and high standards. She understands that culture drives performance and that shared purpose is essential to institutional strength.
At a time when Jewish day schools serve as both educational institutions and community anchors, Levine’s steady, strategic leadership positions Donna Klein Jewish Academy not only to meet the moment but to thrive for generations to come.
