Teresa Rockey and Leila Rodriguez both experienced first-hand what it was like to endure the emotional and financial losses of starting a family. They created and founded Family Formers 11 years ago because of their personal challenges with IVF clinics, egg donor agencies and surrogacy companies.
Their boutique surrogacy and egg donor company works with top IVF clinics in the southeast to help couples, singles and same sex couples who’ve always wanted to be parents. Most of their surrogates are from Florida because of the well-defined surrogacy laws, Rockey says. Family Formers is a strong parent advocate. They help educate and empower intended parents by providing them with valuable information. “We know about IVF from the inside out and how it’s supposed to work,” she says. This information lets parents make informed financial and personal decisions. Family Formers has helped hundreds of intended parents fulfill their dreams of having a family.
Clients hail from all over the US, Europe and South America. “We are a specialty consulting group,” says Rockey. “Clients have come to us because we provide what the big companies can’t — one on one guidance and expertise.” That’s what makes them stand out. “We actually care,” says Rockey.
The field is a passion for Rockey and Rodriguez. They want intended parents to feel 100% confident going into their fertility journey. “We’re doing what we know how to do to help parents. We teach them how to ask the right questions,” says Rockey. “We’re helping these parents because it’s such a difficult process.”
The process reaps rewards for not only the parents but for Rockey and Rodriguez, too. “My favorite part of my job is seeing the tears of joy from the parents when they learn that their surrogate is pregnant and seeing those babies in their parents’ arms,” says Rockey. “It’s so amazing. This is why we do what we do.”
