Matt Munro Makes Technology Groovy For Baby Boomers
If you’ve ever tried to get a piece of technology to work properly and thrown up your hands in frustration, have no fear, GroovyTek is here. The company, launched by Matt Munro, offers one-on-one, in-home or over-the-phone technology training sessions for those who just can’t find their technological groove.
Launched five years ago in Denver, Munro expanded into Phoenix two years later. Last year, he set up the company’s headquarters in Boca Raton. Since then, his three dozen or so technicians have spent more than 10,000 hours helping others understand how to operate their smart devices.
“When you see someone start playing Words with Friends with their grandson who they have not been able to visit, or sharing pictures, or commenting on social media, it is a magical moment,” says Munro. “We like to spread as many of those magic moments throughout the day as we can.”
Don’t know what kind of computer to purchase, or how to video conference with your family? GroovyTek can help. Want to order groceries online, watch a streaming television show or connect with your doctor via telehealth? GroovyTek can help. Need a safe way to store your passwords or optimize your existing computer? GroovyTek can help with that, too.
“Digital natives grew up with technology in schools and it comes second nature to them. And, there is this assumption that everyone else just needs to just figure it out. We don’t think that’s fair,” says Munro. “We want to make sure people can keep up with the changes and use us as a resource to be able to maximize the tools that are within their smartphones, tablets and computers.”
Trainers are selected for their patience and are motivated by those “lightbulb moments” when they know they have helped someone start using their technology. They provide one-on-one service in hour-long sessions with a variety of pricing options and plans available. The company offers services from Fort Lauderdale north to Stuart with plans to expand in 2021.
In addition to in-home and over-the-phone training, GroovyTek has a 3,500-square-foot TekFun Center where visitors can check out various resources and attend workshops.
GroovyTek is located at 1000 Holland Drive, Ste. 10, Boca Raton. For more information, call 561-560-0123 or visit groovytek.com.
