Fighting For Justice In Malpractice And Personal Injury Cases
For the past 40 years, Gary M. Cohen has dedicated his career to medical malpractice cases, a delicate and complex niche of the legal profession with an important goal in mind.
“My job is to figure out how to take care of victims of medical malpractice and to help their families from being wiped out financially,” says the partner at Grossman Roth Yaffa Cohen PA. “I do the best I can to make a terrible situation easier for the family.”
He has handled thousands of cases against doctors and hospitals. His diligent work has secured funds to pay for therapy, special education programs, medical equipment and around-the-clock nursing care when needed. Over the years, Cohen has obtained hundreds of millions of dollars for malpractice victims.
He found his specialization after working for a former doctor who switched careers into law.
“The intermixing of medicine and law is not only very difficult but very fascinating. No two cases are the same,” Cohen says. “You have to learn an entire new discipline, and, in each case, you learn about a specific branch of medicine.”

“I’ve had malpractice cases involving every part of the body. In the last 40 years, it’s all I have ever done,” he says.

“I advocate for people’s rights. All I’m asking for is that the courts correct an unfortunate situation,” Cohen says. “I only take a limited number of cases where people are seriously hurt and where I can make a needed difference. I’m here to identify a genuine malpractice case and then go to battle to make it right for a family.”
Cohen has lived in Boca Raton since 1985 and taught medical malpractice at St. Thomas University School of Law. He regularly speaks at medical malpractice seminars.
“Medical malpractice cases are never about an outcome that anyone wants. Everyone wishes they could turn the clock back so that it never happened. But compensation makes a real difference and gives families a sense of justice and dignity,” he says.
