Welcoming All Children, Regardless Of Disabilities
Stace Katzman, M.S., a child and family psychotherapist, found her true passion and chosen path working with and helping children with all types of disabilities at a very young age.
“I’ve always wanted to work with this population,” she says.“In college, I spent a year as an assistant teacher at a school for children with autism. I want kids to be happy.”
Katzman’s diverse experience helping children and teens with various disabilities steered her toward her passion project: creating an enrichment center where children can play, learn and have fun. Include Me Too opened its doors on Powerline Road in Boca Raton to serve children and young adults with various disabilities.
“It’s a fun place where children and young adults feel loved and welcomed,” she says. “A place where everybody is included, where they can have fun and socialize like their peers and make friends.”
After spending her career working with children, including in Broward County schools, Katzman sees her role as a partner of parents and children.
“I’m not judging or diagnosing,” she says. “I’m partnering with the child to help reach their potential. I am completely accepting.”
The goal of Include Me Too is to build self-esteem and confidence without focusing on disabilities.
“There’s yoga, arts, scavenger hunts, family meditation and board games, which are a great way to be social naturally,” Katzman says. “Games help build pathways in the brain to strengthen problem solving skills.”
Activities are appropriate for children who are on the spectrum, have difficulty socializing, or who have other developmental or intellectual disabilities. Include Me Too seeks to meet the needs of each child.
“This is a place that says to kids, ‘You are OK, and you are perfect exactly as you are,’” Katzman says. “My true purpose is to bring joy to children and accept them each unconditionally leaving their label outside the door.”
