Lewert strives to minimize the stress of the process and shut down combativeness, even when the situation becomes emotionally charged, as it often does, understandably, in a divorce.
Lewert says that times have changed from what she calls the “War of the Roses” attitude, or the stigma of a “broken home,” for litigants going through a divorce. She observes, instead, that so many divorced parents of this generation recognize the importance of maintaining a high degree of peace and the spirit of coparenting and have come to acknowledge that they and their children remain a family, albeit with an updated definition and structure. These changes are reflected in the ever-changing and evolving laws, including a hot-off-the-press revision to the parenting statute effectuating a long overdue legal presumption that equal time-sharing is in the best interest of Florida’s children.
Lewert provides her clients with personal attention and she believes in educating her clients, so they understand the law and her case strategy. Lewert handles matters relating to child custody, time-sharing, alimony, child support and asset distribution, including modifications and enforcement actions.
Lewert earned her bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University and her Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University. She is the recipient of many distinctions, including being featured in the 2024 edition of The Best Lawyers in America, as well as in The New York Times as a Lawyers of Distinction “2021 Power Lawyer;” and she has been selected as a Florida “SuperLawyer” for 11 consecutive years, a designation limited to fewer than 5% of Florida attorneys. She is also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator.
