When damages occur to a business or homeowners’ property, Colleen Maranges steps in to guide her clients through the challenges of litigating against insurance companies.
With more than a decade of experience, and a University of Miami School of Law degree obtained with the highest honors, Maranges prides herself on making the process as painless as it can be when dealing with insurance disputes.
She also handles a wide range of commercial litigation matters in state and federal court, like business torts, real estate disputes and breach of contract matters.
“When a policyholder comes to us, it’s because they are facing challenging circumstances such as hurricane damage to their home or some other catastrophic disaster where a significant portion of their property or business has been lost or damaged. If there is a conflict with the insurance carrier and our clients have been wrongfully underpaid or denied, we take immediate action to try to make them whole,” she says.
Maranges further assists clients before a dispute arises, ensuring that they understand the legal aspects of their insurance policy and if at some point they don’t, she strives to help them navigate the system in a way that is practical, timely, efficient and cost-effective.
“Often, our clients are already experiencing a difficult or complicated time and I want to reduce or, at the very least, not add to their stressful situation,” she adds.
Limiting the mental pressures that policyholders face is a part of the mindset Maranges and her colleagues focus on in their law firm.
The team at Maranges PLLC, which was founded by Maranges and her husband, Chris Maranges, consists of a majority of women lawyers and staff who have dedicated themselves to the culture of being there for people.
“My husband and I come from small law firms and even as we’ve grown, our thought process hasn’t changed. The client’s needs come first. We’re there, we’re responsive and we bring about great results because of it,” she says.
