With hundreds of years of experience among them, the attorneys at Schwartz Sladkus Reich Greenberg Atlas LLP (a merger of three law firms — Manhattan’s SSRGA Law Firm, and South Florida’s Bresky Law and Johnson, Ritchey & Feldman, PA) provide a full range of legal service practice areas to clients in their New York office. In the Florida office, they provide Appeals, Estate Planning, Probate Administration, Domestic Relations, and Family Law legal services.
“The merger of all three firms took place May 15, 2022,” says Joel H. Feldman, Partner, Matrimonial, Family & Domestic Relations Law, of the newly established Boca Raton office of SSRGA. “We all saw an opportunity to expand the diversity of our practice areas with a view of expanding further to service the clients of South Palm Beach County, Florida and New York.”
In family law practice, people are always asking divorce attorneys why they would want to practice family law, says Feldman. “We recognize that divorce and the breakup of relationships is the worst times in clients’ lives, so why wouldn’t we represent them? We step up and are honored to represent them at this traumatic and critical time in their lives.”
Jennifer Fulton, Probate Administration, Trusts & Estates attorney, chose estate planning because she got to see firsthand how having a trust in place can provide for the next generation, and can protect assets from divorce.
“It’s been a wonderful opportunity that can help more than one generation,” she says. “It’s the gift that keeps giving.”
Christen Ritchey, Partner, Florida Matrimonial, Family & Collaborative Law, points out that the scope of family law that SSRGA handles is vast, and includes prenuptials, post-nuptial agreements, divorces, child custody cases, post-marital enforcement issues, paternity, and collaborative practice.
As an alternative to litigation, Ritchey offers collaborative practice to provide the client with an option “that keeps them out of court, and is often a smoother, more efficient, and less contentious process.”
Robin I. Bresky, Partner, Florida Appellate Law, handles civil and criminal appeals, dissolution appeals, appeals in the probate and guardianship arena, and all types of original proceedings in the appellate court.
“We also do litigation support for trial attorneys in the form of research and writing for complex issues and attend trials to preserve the record in the event the case is appealed,” Bresky says.
What makes SSRGA’s attorneys unique is their strong relationships with each other and their clients and their zest for practicing law.
“When we merged together, we realized that our cultures aligned,” says Ritchey. “Our firm is a place where people enjoy coming to work and doing quality work together.”
Feldman agrees and points out that the relationships in the firm translate to a better relationship with clients and the quality of the representation.
One of the things that the attorneys have in common is that “we always put our clients first — and we really like each other,” says Bresky.
“We all have a solid reputation in the legal community for integrity and are highly regarded in Palm Beach County,” she adds. “In the legal industry, reputation is everything.”
