Family Law Associate Attorney
Serena Collins is a family law attorney and residential real estate title attorney — two areas of the law that often comingle when shared properties are involved.
“We are able to handle the divorce and sale of the marital residence at the same time,” Collins says. “We know the correct legal language to put into settlement agreements to ensure that the title company is able to follow the terms of an agreement. We know to look for certain issues other divorce attorneys may miss.”
As an associate attorney at TBS Law, P.A., Collins handles family law issues, including paternity, divorce, enforcement, modification and relocation. She also assists clients in sale/purchase transactions and real estate matters that come up when a divorced couple sells a home or one party refinances in order to buy out the other parties’ interest in the property.
Working closely with the firm’s founder, Tammy Saltzman, Collins seeks to find amicable agreements for her family law clients rather than costly and heated litigation.
“The only people who win in litigation are the attorneys,” Collins says. “Divorce is a very difficult situation to be in and I help guide clients through the process.”
She helps clients in many different situations navigate the system.
“A good family law attorney needs to be compassionate and patient towards clients’ circumstances. You need to be able to put yourself in their shoes and help them navigate hard times in the most amicable way possible, especially when children are involved. The most rewarding part of my job is helping families,” she says.
Born and raised in Boca Raton, Collins is very active in the community. She is a member of the Florida Bar, South Palm Beach County Bar Association and South Palm Beach County Florida Association for Women Lawyers (FAWL). She is the co-chair of the Mentorship Committee in the South Palm Beach County Bar Association, on the board of Young Lawyer Section in the South Palm Beach County Bar Association and is the community outreach chair for the South Palm Beach County FAWL.
