Marc Wigder Takes A Sustainable Approach To Boca Raton’s Office Market
Marc Wigder caters to the sweet spot in Boca Raton’s office market, offering flexible turnkey space at affordable prices in buildings with energy-saving “green” features.
“We provide the right support to help our tenants grow and achieve sustainable success,” he says.
The Greenhouse Offices serves start-ups, professional firms and growing companies with suites ranging from 150 square feet to 5,000 square feet and amenities like a zen garden and an onsite cafe. Wigder, who is managing director and “chief cultivator,” opened the Greenhouse Office Building in east Boca Raton in 2012, followed by Greenhouse Reflections in central Boca Raton. Together, these two complexes offer more than 100,000 square feet of flexible office space.
This spring, Wigder is preparing to close on a third building on Boca Raton’s east side to expand the “campus.”
“By expanding our inventory of small spaces, we can accommodate growing tenants and move them to different buildings if they desire,” he says.
Wigder was practicing real estate law in New York in the early 2000s before moving to Florida and starting a family with his wife, Fran.
“The population and economic trends favor South Florida, and Boca Raton is a fantastic place to live, work and play,” he says.
During the last recession, Wigder saw an opportunity to purchase distressed office buildings, renovate them and turn them into performing assets. After acquiring his first building, he went back to school, earning an MBA in sustainability from Yale University. Since then, he’s retrofitted buildings with energy-management systems and other eco-friendly features.
“In the past eight years, we have lowered the electricity bill at The Greenhouse Offices by almost a third while growing from 35 to 99 percent occupancy,” he says.
Along with his business success, Wigder is active in the public sector, serving on the City of Boca Raton’s Community Advisory Panel and Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee.
“We all need to support sustainability initiatives in our city,” he says. “That’s one of the steps we can take toward preserving our world for future generations.”
The Greenhouse Offices are located at 5301 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton. For more information, call 561-674-0001 or visit greenhouseoffices.com.
