Psychiatrist Joshua Paul Werblin, M.D., Helps Children and Families
Psychiatrist Joshua Paul Werblin, M.D., understands the importance of professional counseling for children with developmental disorders and their families.
“A caring and compassionate psychiatrist can make a lasting contribution to overall quality of life,” says Dr. Werblin, who is the medical director of Therapies 4 Kids, a fast-growing multi-disciplinary practice in South Florida offering physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language pathology, applied behavior analysis (ABA) and psychiatric services that help children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and cerebral palsy.
Known affectionately as “Dr. Josh” to his young patients, Dr. Werblin provides psychiatric services to the community at large as well as for clients of the Therapies 4 Kids program.
“Many people with mental illness, whether anxiety or depression, for example, benefit from medications as well as counseling,” he says. “Continuity of medical care is vital since an individual treatment plan may change as a child grows and develops. As a child and adult psychiatrist in this practice, I can provide a longitudinal approach to care across disciplines and the lifespan.”
Dr. Werblin knows that parents and siblings of children with special needs often experience severe daily stress.
“Professional care can benefit the entire family, addressing issues like caregiver burnout,” he says. “That’s one of the services we offer at our Therapies 4 Kids facilities in Boca Raton, Coral Springs and Weston.”
Dr. Josh moved to BocaRaton from New York recently with his wife, Alia, and their three children. In the past decade, he has primarily provided care to families of underserved neighborhoods in inner-city Baltimore and New York.
“I initially aspired to be a pediatric oncologist and found myself spending a lot of time counseling children with cancer,” he says. “That ultimately led me to pursue a career in child psychiatry.”
Therapies 4 Kids treats children from all over the world using research-based protocols, including its intensive ABA intervention program for children with ASD. Free assessments and evaluations are available, along with comprehensive programming tailored to the needs of each child.
