(The Council has worked with United Way for nearly 30 years.) She has volunteered at events such as Thanksgiving food drives and backpack initiatives. She has donated to them directly. “I’ve seen firsthand the difference that United Way funding makes in the community,” says Dr. Williams-Taylor.
United Way of Palm Beach County is a nonprofit organization that invests in more than 110 programs and initiatives in the county to ensure everyone can access basic necessities like food, education and healthcare.
“They’re making a difference every day,” Dr. Williams-Taylor says, “whether it’s by ensuring children have enough food to learn and grow, connecting them to a supportive and caring mentor or providing special-needs equipment so they can reach their full potential. The money United Way receives has immediate community impact for long-term results.”
Dr. Williams-Taylor says that mentoring is her favorite part of working with United Way. “We see the difference adults can make in a child’s life in terms of mentoring and leadership,” she says, “and we’re thrilled United Way has done such an amazing job bolstering our community’s mentoring network so more children benefit from a mentor. Each and every day, United Way steps into a leadership role to help children be successful and thrive.”
Dr. Williams-Taylor has been CEO since 2015 and has been with CSC since 2004. She helps ensure that CSC, in collaboration with partners and the community, works to serve Palm Beach County’s children and families. CSC funding supports more than 680 local organizations.
“United Way’s responsiveness is incredible,” she says. “I can hear about an issue in the community, talk to leaders about developing a solution and United Way is there. They’re always eager to be at the table.”
A leader in the community, Dr. Williams-Taylor received the Women in Leadership Award from Executive Women of the Palm Beaches Foundation, Community Champion Award from Prime Time, the Giraffe Award from the Women’s Chamber and Outstanding Executive Champion from United Way.
